If you’re a fan of late-night talk shows, you’ve heard of Jay Leno. You’ve also probably heard about Leno “retiring” from NBC in Spring of 2009.
Not anymore.
On December 9, Leno and numerous NBC executives held a press conference to announce a venture into prime time television for the comedian. According to a Reuters.com story, the new one-hour show will air at 10 EST/9 CST, and will be the first program of its kind to run 6 days a week in US prime time. For all you “Tonight Show” faithful out there, the new show will still feature an opening monologue, and familiar comedy bits like “Headlines” and “Jaywalking”.
The only downfall of this move is that shows such as “Law and Order” will be pushed back an hour, causing other programs to be canceled.
Which isn’t a huge loss, really… I mean, “Lipstick Jungle”? Yeah, I don’t think I’ll miss that one.

My question to you, ladies and gentlemen of the blogosphere: Do you think this move will give NBC a much-needed push in ratings? Or will it not have a large enough effect for the company to overtake its competitors?

This is some great stuff! I found an awesome article about the James Bond/007 movies and their theme music selection. After reading, I found out that some big name celebrities have recorded theme music for several movies in the Bond series over the past 40 years, and that many of those themes went unheard.
The best part about the information is that you can actually listen to the music! (With the exception of two missing tracks.) There really were some great variations here that surprisingly didn’t make the cut.
Here’s a condensed list:
- Goldfinger (1964); Originally recorded by Anthony Newley.
Click to hear
- Thunderball (1965); Originally recorded by Johnny Cash(!)

- You Only Live Twice (1967); Originally recorded by Lorraine Chandler.

- The Man With the Golden Gun (1974); Originally recorded by Alice Cooper.

- For Your Eyes Only (1981); Originally recorded by Blondie.

- The Living Daylights (1987); Originally recorded by The Pet Shop Boys.

After 13 seasons, long time comedy ‘King of the Hill’. written by Greg Daniels and Mike Judge, will not air another season for FOX.
This is very disappointing to me. I have been a fan for the series for almost 5 years now, and I watch it whenever it’s on. It just goes to show how much power the production company has - to axe a popular comedy with hardly any hint of doing so beforehand made this news shocking to many. Looks to me like Fox wants to get the old shows out of the way so some new (and very likely to fail) shows can take their places.
But Greg Daniels and Mike Judge are working on bigger and better things, and had been for some time now. Daniels works with The Office, which is a great comedy and a VERY popular show at this time. Judge is also working on a new animated series of his own, The Goode Family, and will premiere on ABC.
There have been 13 final episodes purchased by Fox, and they will be shown in the 2009-2010 season.
Perhaps Fox will reconsider the decision, but that’s really unlikely. but I guess we’ll have to just wait and see.
