SquidFlicks - bloodyvalentine3dfinal-194x300My Bloody Valentine 3-D

Intro:

It’s been twenty five years since a horror film has been released in 3-D, and it’s been LONG overdue. Who knew the film that was being given the 3D treatment, surprise surprise,  would be a remake. So you think, OK, what will it be? a Friday the 13th, or A Nightmare on Elm Street remake in 3-D? Nope, it’s a little cult film from 1981 called My Bloody Valentine. Over the past year there has a lot of hype for this film, and needless to say I was very happy to see the 2009 release of Patrick Lussier’s My Bloody Valentine.

SquidFlicks - stand_by_me_poster-202x300Stand By Me

Intro:

While growing up some of your best memories can come from hanging out with your friends over the summers. Wither it be going on dangerous, exciting adventures in your backyard, to playing Marco Polo at the local city swimming pool. You can grow and break friendships over the course of one summer, some of your childhood friends will stay with you throughout high school and beyond, while others you will part ways with and who will become only faces you see, but the times you spend together will stay with you, like the boys in the 1986 release of Rob Reiner’s “Stand By Me.”

Note: This is Dakota Thomas’ first review as an official SquidFlicks author. You may have read  about his other productions, and many a moon ago, his debut as a SquidFlicks contributor. He likes to help out when he’s not working on a big production! =)

Intro:

During the prime time of 80s horror films this little gem was released.  This is the child of horror masters George A. Romero and Stephen King.  An anthology film with five terrifying tales of the macabre.  With an all star cast this film went on to gross nearly twenty million dollars.

Summer Movies you Can’t Pass up - 2008

Shelby Jones » 26 July 2008 » In Box Office Hits, Featured Films, Productions, Reviews » No Comments

Summer

Summer is often a slow time of the year - you get more time to entertain yourself instead of work, and a prime example of that is the lack of content added to SquidFlicks in the past couple of months! =o

However, I have been keeping an eye on all the releases coming out this summer, and I have compiled a list of must-see sumer movies.

  • Step Brothers
  • The Dark Knight
  • The X-Files: I Want to Believe
  • Kung Fu Panda
  • WALL-E
  • Get Smart
  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
  • Hellboy II: The Golden Army
  • Journey to the Center of the Earth

Unfortunately I have only been able to see a few of the many great movies listed above. I plan to see them all and get reviews as soon as I possibly can, but that shouldn’t keep you from seeing them!

Enjoy your summer!

Transformers

This is a review by a Guest Author - Ricky Holdman

Intro

When you hear the word “Transformers” you probably think about the children’s toy, or fanboys with their bellies hanging over their belts, glasses, and a Transformers shirt which is about 2 sizes too small. Well, both of these are correct, but this 2007 movie Directed by Michael Bay and Produced by Steven Spielberg, holds a whole lot more meaning than those two things.

‘I am Legend’ Breaks the December Bank

I Am Legend

SquidFlicks Box Office Hit

As you may or may not already know, Will Smith’s performance in the movie that SquidFlicks previously previewed, I am Legend, has broken the box office all-time high for December release weekends. Grossing well over 76.5 million dollars, it easily passed all other competition.

It seems that our preview was pretty accurate - this looks like a great movie, and I want to see it so that we can share the review with others! =)

P.S. This is the first in another new feature of SquidFlicks - Box Office Hits and Box Office Blunders!
