Everything seems to be in place and perfect for a small colonial era township located in a large clearing and surrounded by woods, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Mysterious creatures lie beyond the border of the town, and no one is allowed to cross the border for fear that the creatures will exact their revenge. After a few appearances by the creatures, an accident befalls a young couple. Death will occur if medicine is not obtained, and an idea to obtain it is brought before the powerful town council of elders.
Hit comedy series, The Office, starring Steve Carell, is going to be coming back to NBC on September 25 for another hilarious season, which is the shows fifth. Just last year, during the massive Hollywood Writer’s Strike, the forth season of The Office was cut from 25 episodes to just 14. However, the entire company really worked hard to make those 14 episodes really great, and finished the season out with some awesome (and wacky) cliffhangers for the next season to answer.
Hope you’re ready - I have had this date on my calendar for some time now! (You should know that since it is obvious that I love this show! )

As you may or may not already know, the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards are tomorrow at 8pm ET/5pm PT on ABC.
There are a lot of great shows and actors nominated for the many categories, but here are a few selections that I think should be made. Feel free to agree/disagree in the comments!
The Emmys are another prestigious award that TV shows and series can earn - and often the winners are well deserving of the award. After watching the awards every year, I end up seeing shows that were winners just to see if I liked them.
Enough jabber, on to the predictions!
Outstanding Comedy Series
Out of all five shows, I would have to pick The Office as the best comedy series for the Emmy. Just two years ago, the series picked up the same award (2006 Outstanding Comedy Series) and I think that it deserves an encore this year.
Outstanding Drama Series
I am liking House, M.D. as the winner, but it faces stiff competition, especially from LOST, which would also be a good pick for this award.
I recently found a new DVD release for an old TV show that still today is one of my favorite cartoons of all time. This show was Rocko’s Modern Life, and it featured Rocko, a kangaroo wallaby (thanks commenter below! ) and his best friend, Heffer, a cow, in crazy day to day life.
The show was canceled on Nickelodeon, and then it stopped being aired a couple of years later - the only place you could watch the show was on NickToons, a channel where the old Nick cartoons are rerun.
I am excited to see that the show is finally being released on DVD. There are two volumes sold as separate DVDs, with Volume 1 containing seasons 1 and 2, then Volume 2 containing seasons 3 and 4. The two DVDs span all four seasons of this great show.
I will have to add this to my always-expanding Amazon.com wishlist! (aka stuff I plan to buy some time…when I get the cash to. =( )
After weeks of delay and problems, the very first episode of the SquidFlicks Movie Marathon series is complete and open for comments and viewing.

I know we have have a lot of things to improve upon, but the only real problem we had was the AC current ‘buzz’ in the audio of the first of the marathon. In the future, all electronic devices will be moved away from the camera and mic cables.
There are some people out that you just can’t stand. Like in school, you are always put in a group with someone who you cannot tolerate. In the end, you have to learn to work with people you hate, wither it be for a grade, a project, or to survive, like the people in the 2005 release of John Gulager’s “Feast.”
It is the morning after, and we pick up with the survivors of “Feast’s terrifying night before. There are more monsters and they are even angrier/hungrier.
I can’t believe that it has been seven years since the worst terror attack in the United States occurred. As conflict between the nations of the world breaks out and tensions continue to strain, I sometimes wonder when the critical point will be crossed and spark a world-wide war that no one wants.
SquidFlicks would like to take the time to thank those who have served, lost lives, or are currently serving in the fight for a safer world, a world without terrorists and warring factions.

Entertainment Weekly recently published their list of the 25 funniest movies of the past 25 years. While the list was decent as a whole, I think that there are many more deserving titles that didn’t get mentioned.
Note that this is a list of the funniest movies in the past 25 years, so any movie made before 1983 does not apply! For Example: Caddyshack, The Jerk, etc.
I also took it upon myself to label some of the movies that I thought were good picks for the top 25 list.
Here’s the list:
1. “Ghostbusters” (1984) - Not #1, but in the top 25
2. “National Lampoon’s Vacation” (1983) - Great Choice
3. “Beverly Hills Cop” (1984)
4. “This Is Spinal Tap” (1984)
5. “Office Space” (1999)
6. “South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut” (1999)
7. “There’s Something About Mary” (1998) - CLASSIC
8. “The Big Lebowski” (1998)
9. “A Fish Called Wanda” (1988)
10. “Dazed and Confused” (1993)
11. “The 40 Year Old Virgin” (2005) - No comments needed!
12. “When Harry Met Sally…” (1989)
13. “Waiting for Guffman” (1996)
14. “Wedding Crashers” (2005)
15. “Trading Places” (1983)
16. “Superbad” (2007)
17. “Tropic Thunder” (2008) - I want to see this movie!
18. “Napoleon Dynamite” (2004) - Definitely a top 25 pick
19. “Clueless” (1995)
20. “Best in Show” (2000)
21. “Clerks” (1994)
22. “Old School” (2003) - “Dude, you just took a shot right to the jugular!”
23. “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” (1997) - Yeah Baby Yeah!
24. “The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad” (1988) - “Nice Beaver”
25. “Withnail and I” (1987)
What movies since 1983 do you think belong on the list of the top 25 funniest movies in the past 25 years? Do you think a movie needs a higher or lower ranking on the list?
PLEASE leave a comment and an explanation for your choice!
